Natalie Fortescue – Experience

Natalie has almost 30 years’ experience in a mix of investment banking, in-house senior management and accounting roles. Natalie has led over 15 IPOs and 50 other transactions (Equity, M&A and debt) and also acted as Head of IR. She joined Serinus Energy Plc as an NED in 2021. She has significant experience of managing complex transactions, both from an in-house and, previously, a banking perspective.

Natalie undertook her formal accountancy training 1993-1997 before moving into corporate finance with Investec. She then joined Oriel (now Stifel) in 2001 where she was one of the initial team and became a partner, running UK transactions and coverage of her clients, before moving in-house in 2011.

Natalie’s experience spans the banking, accounting, legal, IR, structuring, financing and other work streams typical to a transaction. Her accounting background and fact she led the prospectus process with the UK regulator as a banker for many years mean that she is intimately familiar with the complex accounting and prospectus requirements (including HFI, FPP, working capital and others). With a decade working “in-house” she has an excellent understanding of the requirements and practicalities from a company perspective, how this relates to the bigger picture transaction dynamics and what needs to be done to ensure timelines are met.
